DIY Vanilla Extract

Make your own pure vanilla extract with 2 simple ingredients!  Makes a great homemade gift for the holidays!  TIP*  you can find good quality vanilla beans on ebay and amazon for

a reasonable price :)

You'll Need:

• 1 (1.75 liter) bottle of cheap vodka
• about 35 vanilla beans

 Basically you want about 5 vanilla beans per 1 cup of alcohol so use that ratio if you prefer to make a smaller batch.  Slice your beans down the middle to expose the tiny vanilla seeds.  Place them into the bottle of vodka and place in a cool dark place.  Allow to sit for at least 6 weeks.
